Getting Ready for a Play!

Thursday 8th May

Hi! How’s your weekend going?

We have beautiful weather, hot and sunny. Not like the weather they had in the play we are going to perform for the end of course. The play is set in (takes place, happens in) an old house which has been turned into (transformed) a guest house (something like a hotel); somewhere in England…

The title of the play is “The Mousetrap”. It was written by the female mystery writer, Agatha Christie. Seven people get trapped in an old guest house. They’re isolated because of the snow. Meanwhile the police are looking for a murderer. The guests in the house suspect that any of them could be the murderer the police are after…
You can learn more things on this link:

Not only are we going to act out (perform) this play but we’re also going to write the script. Our own script. And that’s what you started doing in class. We had the summary of the play and you worked in pairs changing from reported into direct speech so as to have the words for the script. I’d like to congratulate you because you worked very hard. So, now we have to put the pieces together in order to get the whole story.

I was so focused on the play that I forgot to check your homework! It doesn’t matter. We’ll do it first thing on Thursday. Anyway, all of you have five points for your work in class.

We spent the last minutes of the class defining and guessing words. We’ll go on with ‘The Mousetrap’ next Thursday.
